Airport Incident and Parliament Standoff

Previously that day, thousands of supporters momentarily entered the capital's aviation hub, disrupting a formal proceeding where the head of state and other officials were accepting Odinga's remains with armed forces tribute.

This incident led to a temporary halt of aviation services.

Assemblies also flooded adjacent streets and tried to enter the legislative building, where the government had originally scheduled the public viewing.

Political Heritage and Ethnic Support

While predominantly identified as an political challenger, Odinga assumed the role of senior minister in 2008 and also established a political pact with the leader last year in a political journey defined by shifting alliances.

He inspired passionate devotion among followers, particularly in his cultural background based in western Kenya, many of whom believe he was deprived of the presidency by vote manipulation.
