The Belarusian player finished the tour with an notable twenty-three to three Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of High Performance

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

This past summer, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and earned a historic £11m in earnings.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".
